This book takes beginner readers through 25 short, simple stories featuring 50 common sight words. The stories gradually build on words children have already encountered, with activities after each story to reinforce what they’ve learned.

It helps if your child already has some familiarity with letters and their sounds, but they don’t need to be able to read independently yet. In fact, this is a lovely book for that in-between stage when they’re beginning to say, “Let me try!”

Keep it simple — and keep it pressure-free.

Start with one story at a time. Read together, let your child try the words they recognise, and help when they get stuck. Afterward, complete the accompanying activities together to reinforce the new words.

There’s no need to rush through the book. Five happy minutes of reading together can be more valuable than pushing through several stories when your child is tired.

As their confidence grows, encourage them to take over more of the reading themselves.

The book is designed for young beginner readers, around ages 3–5, but reading readiness matters more than the number on the birthday cake.

Some children may enjoy it earlier with plenty of parent guidance, while others may find it most useful at 5 or even a little later.

A better sign that your child is ready? They’re beginning to recognise letters and familiar words — and showing curiosity about reading for themselves.

That’s completely okay. Learning to read isn’t a race, and children rarely progress at exactly the same pace.

If a word feels difficult, simply tell them the word, read the sentence together and keep the story moving. You can always return to it another day.

The goal isn't to get every word right on the first try. It’s to help your child associate reading with curiosity, stories and little moments of “I did it!”
